Reflect and Stop the Bully Cycle

Entry also posted at www.managebullying.com

Last week marked the 11th anniversary of the tragedy at Columbine.

What have we learned? What are we doing differently? How are we treating people better? I’m afraid our children still aren’t learning the basics.

We are still overlooking, ignoring and walking away. They don’t teach how to de-escalate a conflict with words in our grade schools and middle schools. I would guess that most of the teachers don’t know how either.

Over a decade has passed. We are finally opening our eyes to the bigger picture. Bullying has a negative impact on the victim, the bully and all the bystanders. We can stop the cycle through education and intervention.
