Eye Contact

Looking deeply into the center dark light of eyes, fathomless and beautiful, their souls connected as they were both lost and found at once.

Poppycock.

Afraid it only happens that way in romance novels or made for TV movies.

Ignoring all romantic implications, it is important to really look at people.  It shows you are confident.  It lets them know you are listening, that you care.

Making eye contact with individuals you do not know is difficult.  Hard for both children and adults. Sometimes it is shyness or a shielding.  Sometimes it is lack of focus or a distraction.  We practice it with the youth but grown ups can be just as evasive with their eyes.

We need to think about it.  Concentrate.  Slow down.

And you never know.  Maybe that soul piercing gaze is waiting for you.
