A Left Turn

I went the wrong direction
Through the park
After cursing my
Lack of attention
Readjusted my bearings
To get there from here
When I noticed the birds brunch
Eight cardinals
Meeting for breakfast
The males vibrant against the grass
Their mates blending with the woods
I imagined it was a good omen
And thought
It was lucky I came this way.
